Douglas M Beaumont

I am an assistant professor at Southern Evangelical Seminary in Matthews, NC where I teach Bible, Critical Thinking, and Religion.  I speak on various topics related to Christianity around the country, and I have been published in The Christian Apologetics Journal, The Baker Dictionary of Cults and World Religions, The Best Catholic Writing 2006, and the Apologetics Study Bible for Teens.

This blog supports my book that combines my love of theology, philosophy, and movies that came out in 2009 titled The Message Behind the Movie (Moody Publishers). I am not a screenwriter, nor  a Hollywood director, neither gaffer nor key grip. I am not even a professional film critic. But I am a seminary teacher, a Christian apologist, an armchair philosopher, a back seat theologian, and, some would say, an all around righteous dude. I am also a big movie fan. Though I would not call myself a cinephile (the intellectual term for “movie geek”), I have spent a fair amount of time in front of the silver screen and the black tube (some would say maybe too much time!). Therefore I can speak authoritatively from the standpoint of a theological, philosophical, movie lover. The Message Behind the Movie is my attempt to unite my interest in theology, philosophy, and apologetics with my love of film.

See www.dougbeaumont.org for speaking requests and the rest of my online activity.

  1. This bio is a generic one that covers more than one blog, but good call I should put something in there about that!

  2. Jeremy Webb Says:

Love the bio, but it doesn’t say anything about you interest in cinema. I ask because I am the only serious film buff among all the Christians I know.
